Clifford Devlin is proud to share the important work of Dan Tooley, our Head of Asbestos & Fire, in advancing asbestos safety in Ukraine.
‘’The war in Ukraine has triggered numerous cascading, long-term impacts, one of which is the looming environmental disaster caused by uncontrolled asbestos exposure’’.
To address this, Dan, along with colleagues in the industry Alex and Ian, embarked on a journey to Ukraine, travelling by van due to the substantial equipment required. Their mission was to train delegates from Profbud, the Ukrainian construction union, on asbestos safety. Under Dan’s guidance, participants learned about the hazards of asbestos, methods for detecting it, and safe procedures for its removal. This training will allow delegates to develop tailored courses to meet the specific needs of their regions and comply with local regulations.
Clifford Devlin and Empire Asbestos made a humanitarian contribution, donating over £20,000 worth of asbestos removal equipment to Profbud. This donation will support ongoing training programmes and equip health and safety professionals and construction workers with the knowledge and tools needed to handle asbestos safely.
