Our Social Value, Bid and Marketing Lead, Rebecca Redmond, who helped organise our involvement was delighted with the response and the outcome:
“Race for Life is just the latest of a series of initiatives we have organised to make-good on our commitment to provide social value and support to the communities in which we operate,” she said, “The response was amazing and I’d like to thank everyone who sponsored our runners or donated to the funds raised.”
Race for Life is Cancer Research UK’s biggest series of fundraising events. Taking place across the UK, it involves 3k, 5k and 10k runs. The annual event, which started life as a women-only initiative, was first held in Battersea, in 1994, where 750 participants raised £48,000. Since then, Race for Life has grown into a series of hundreds of events across the country, raising nearly £900 million towards beating cancer over the last quarter of a century. Men have been able to take part in all of our Race for Life events since 2019.
All Race For Life sponsorship goes towards Cancer Research UK’s work, funding laboratories, tests and treatments of all 200 types of cancer.
