As part of Clifford Devlin’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, this summer saw the company support two new local initiatives.
In June we agreed a two-year sponsorship deal with Thurrock-based young football club, Essex Comets.
The club currently has 15 groups which cater for children aged 3 to 16. The company’s Senior Asbestos Contracts Manager, Mark Collins’ son Ben currently plays for Essex Comets’ Oranges u10’s.
“We are very grateful for Clifford Devlin’s sponsorship which will help us further develop Essex Comets,” said the club’s Secretary Hazel Massarella, “Our club was established in 2007 with only two teams and an ethos that all children have a right to learn the beautiful game. Nine years on and we now have 15 squads as well as an under 6s and mini comet team.”
The club achieved charter standard in 2010 and six years later became a West Ham Foundation partner.
In July we also answered the call to support a community workshop organised by the London Borough of Islington. Clifford Devlin agreed to donate two workmates for training sessions to help local unemployed women learn how to use battery drills.
“We are very indebted to Clifford Devlin for their contribution to our initiative,” said Charmaine Brouard, Training Facility Manager at Islington Council Repairs Team, “This is helping us to develop local skills to resource our residential repairs service in the future as well as contributing to the social and economic activity of the area.”
Clifford Devlin is currently 2 years into a 3-year framework contract to provide planned and responsive asbestos removal to support the maintenance and refurbishment of the social housing and municipal buildings managed by the London Borough of Islington.
